🥌 Olympic Curling Trials Coming to Sioux Falls

The Gist: This November, Sioux Falls will host the U.S. Olympic Curling Team Trials, drawing top athletes from across the country. At a preview panel, 2018 Olympic gold medalist Tyler George spoke about the high-stakes competition, where wins and losses can reshape careers. The event will spotlight the local curling club and give fans a rare chance to cheer on Olympic hopefuls right here in South Dakota.
Why it matters: It’s a chance for our community to shine nationally while bringing in tourism and hometown pride. Read more here.
🎖️ Support for South Dakota Veterans

The Gist: Two local organizations will share nearly $1.8 million in federal grants to help veterans who are homeless or at risk. The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska received $350,000 to serve Charles Mix County, and Cornerstone Rescue Mission in Rapid City was awarded about $1.42 million. The funds will cover housing, health care, transportation, childcare, legal aid, and financial counseling throughout 2026.
