It’s mural season, marathon season, and reptile season? Sioux Falls is delivering on all fronts this week. Between Riverfest, SiouxperCon, and a new hands-on reptile zoo, you’ll be busy choosing between BBQ, paintbrushes, and baby gator selfies.

🍷 Polaroids + Prosecco = a Perfect Night Out

Harvester Kitchen by Bryan is where Sioux Falls goes to feel like a big city without leaving home.

Tucked inside the historic Harvester Building, this intimate spot is all about seasonal tasting menus, farm-fresh ingredients, and thoughtful wine pairings that turn dinner into an experience.

Chef Bryan is expanding into a new 5,000 sq. ft. space later this year with three experiences: fine dining (HK), Nunzio’s Food Hall, and a BlackFork Farms whiskey taproom, all under one roof. Learn more here.

🐢 Scales, Tails, and Local Thrills

Something wildly unique is about to crawl into Sioux Falls. Reptile Adventure Zoo is opening soon on Russell Street, transforming the old driver’s exam station into a scaly wonderland.

Expect more than 100 exhibits, roaming tortoises, turtles you can touch, and even baby alligators for photo ops. One side is a pet shop stocked with reptiles, feeders, and supplies; the other is a hands-on zoo built for curious kids and brave adults alike. Learn more here.

🎨 New Downtown Mural Coming to Life

The Gist: Sioux Falls is getting a colorful addition downtown thanks to a $15,000 grant from the Gilchrist Foundation. Local artist Joe Schaeffer will lead the creation of a 60-foot mural in the Cherapa Place parking ramp tunnel, with a design honoring the Big Sioux River.

Why It Matters: The project brings neighbors together while celebrating one of the city’s most cherished natural landmarks.

🏃‍♀️ Sioux Falls Marathon to Bring Road Closures

The Gist: Several Sioux Falls streets will close Sunday, Sept. 21, for the annual Sioux Falls Marathon. Full, half, and 5K races start between 6:45 and 10:15 a.m., with closures stretching from downtown to neighborhood routes. Some streets will be fully closed for several hours, while others will remain open but see heavy runner traffic and volunteer guidance.

Why It Matters: Drivers should plan ahead to avoid delays, and residents along the route can expect extra activity and cheering crowds that morning. Read more here.
