🐾 Meet Asha, Sioux Falls’ New Snow Leopard Cub

The Gist: There’s a new little face melting hearts at the Great Plains Zoo & Butterfly House & Aquarium. After weeks of community voting, the zoo’s first snow leopard cub in 21 years has been named Asha (a perfect fit for this bright, curious bundle of fur)! Born May 23 to proud parents Denali and Strut, Asha is already exploring her new space.

🍲 Students Pack 50,000 Meals for Neighbors in Need

The Gist: During Dakota Days Spirit Week, University of South Dakota students put community first, teaming up with Feed the Funnel to assemble 50,000 chili-and-rice meals. The student volunteers spent the day sealing bags filled with beans, rice, and spice; each one enough to feed six people with just a little boiling water. The meals are being distributed to food pantries and shelters in Vermillion, Yankton, Sioux City, and Sioux Falls.

This clever, quiet girl enjoys soft pets, belly rubs, and batting at pompoms once she feels comfortable. She blossoms in a calm home and gets along beautifully with easygoing cats or mellow dogs.

Vanessa isn’t suited for noisy households but would do well with older, respectful children and an experienced adopter who understands shy souls.
