🚧 Road Construction Season Returns

The Gist City and state officials have announced this year’s major road projects. Work resumes next month on the I-229 and Cliff interchange, which stays under construction through 2027. Major improvements also continue at Minnesota and I-229, 85th Street and I-29, and the Veterans and Arrowhead Parkways intersection. Beyond these large projects, crews plan to resurface over 800 blocks of residential streets across the city.
Why It Matters These upgrades improve our local travel, though the work will require extra patience during daily commutes and school runs. Arrowhead Parkway will close for up to six weeks this spring.
🤝 Tribal Leaders and Mayor Talk About Our Future

The Gist Mayor Paul TenHaken and leaders from South Dakota’s Tribal Nations recently held their first formal roundtable in Sioux Falls. They discussed practical ways to support the many Indigenous families who live and work here, focusing on healthcare access, housing, and addiction services. The group also shared visions for a new local Native center and a city powwow to celebrate the culture of the area’s first people.
Why It Matters This meeting opens a direct line of communication to ensure local resources and services reach every neighbor in our community.
