May simply sneaked up fast, and with it comes that shift into full spring mode. Windows open, longer evenings, and more reasons to get out of the house.

Whether it’s grabbing dinner midweek or making a Saturday out of the market, there’s a lot to look forward to right now. Hopefully this helps you pick a few favorites.

🌐 Midco's putting $20 million into Sioux Falls fiber

The Gist Midco announced a $43 million investment to finish out its Fiber Forward initiative across South Dakota, with more than $20 million earmarked for Sioux Falls over the next three years. The upgrades will bring symmetrical 4-gigabit-per-second download and 1-gigabit upload speeds to more than 63,000 homes and businesses here, plus smaller investments in Tea and Harrisburg.
Why It Matters: This is the last leg of a yearslong buildout that brings the total Fiber Forward investment in South Dakota to more than $160 million. For a metro that added more than 5,600 people last year, faster and more reliable connectivity is exactly the kind of boring-but-critical infrastructure that quietly keeps Sioux Falls competitive.
☀️ Fresh picks and Saturday smiles at Falls Park

The Gist: The Falls Park Farmer’s Market officially kicks off its 2026 season this Saturday, May 2nd, across from the Stockyard Ag Experience Barn. The market will run every Saturday from 8 AM to 1 PM through October, featuring local produce, flowers, and handmade goods. Visitors can enjoy live music, wood-fired pizza, and family entertainment like magic shows and aerial performers.
Why It Matters: It turns a routine grocery trip into a community celebration at Falls Park, giving families a place to gather and enjoy the best our local vendors have to offer. Head down to the park for opening day this Saturday, May 2nd, starting at 8 AM.

🌮 Tableside magic and festive neighborhood spirits

521 W 85th St, Sioux Falls, SD
La Plaza Fiesta feels especially vibrant these coming weeks as the neighborhood prepares for Cinco de Mayo and Mexican Mother’s Day celebrations. The tableside guacamole is a beautiful ritual to start the meal, pairing perfectly with their signature lemon-lime chicken.
The colorful margarita flights and the aroma of the fresh churro cart can easily make every visit feel like a special occasion worth sharing with the people you love.

🧺 Fresh finds and shared tables

410 W 18th St, Sioux Falls, SD
The Sioux Falls Food Co+op serves as a welcoming home base for quality groceries and community connection. Wednesday evenings are a highlight, offering five dollar dinners like tavern sandwiches from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
While browsing the massive bulk section, keep an eye out for thirty percent off shop sweatshirts and tees. For upcoming celebrations, their kitchen has launched online ordering for crowd favorites like taco bars and pretzel bun sliders.
