Something about mid-March brings the city back to life.

Maybe it is the hint of warmer air, maybe it is the extra daylight, or maybe it is the simple fact that St. Patrick’s Day gives everyone an excuse to get out of the house again.

Beyond the celebrations, there is plenty happening across Sioux Falls. The Boat Show is rolling into the Convention Center, local musicians have a chance to land summer gigs at The Steel District, and smaller community events are filling up the weekend.

Grab a friend, throw on something green, and enjoy a weekend that definitely feels like the start of a new season.

Since 1986, Shenanigans Sports Bar & Grill has been the North Star for a well-poured pint.

The wood-fired thin crust and "thick-cut" bacon burgers pair perfectly with the roar of March Madness, but the real magic happens during their legendary St. Patrick’s celebrations.

With bagpipers echoing through the rafters and a shuttle running between the Ellis and Phillips spots, it remains the city’s favorite place to toast to a little luck.

At Spoke-N-Sport, trading the gas pedal for two wheels feels much better when your gear actually fits. The team here lives the commute daily, so they know exactly how to dial in a bike or a pair of snowboard boots for maximum comfort.

If your gear pinched or rubbed last season, the masterfit technicians can sort those quirks now before the boots hit the shelf. You can even skip the online listing headaches by trading in a quality bike for immediate credit toward something new!

🍀 Sioux Falls Goes Green for St. Patrick’s Day

The Gist The 46th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade returns to downtown Phillips Avenue this Saturday, March 14, at 2:00 PM. Known as the People’s Parade, this free community tradition travels from 13th Street to 5th Street with retired firefighter Kelly Grogan serving as Grand Marshal. You can spot the Falls at Falls Park glowing green all weekend to mark the occasion.

Why It Matters It is a cherished way to gather downtown and support local charities like the Special Olympics through the purchase of $3 parade buttons. Catch the traditional painting of the shamrock at 11:00 AM Saturday in front of First National Bank. Remember that Phillips Avenue parking closes Saturday morning and nearby streets shut down at 1:30 PM.

🎸 Live Music Coming to The Steel District

The Gist The Steel District is looking for local musicians to fill our downtown patios with music this summer and fall. They are booking paid gigs for Tuesday evenings and Wednesday lunch hours to create a fun, upbeat atmosphere for neighbors and visitors. Whether you play solo acoustic sets or jazz, this is a chance to perform at one of our city's newest destinations.

Why It Matters Live music makes our local dining and hangout spots feel more vibrant and brings us together to support the talented artists living right here in our community. Interested musicians can fill out a simple interest form online to audition for time slots on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. or Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m:

Bean is a quiet treasure currently waiting for her forever home.

She is spayed, vaccinated, and gets along wonderfully with other cats, dogs, and children. For an adoption fee of $125, you can welcome this tenderhearted observer into your life.
